Father and daughter bonding time.
I know photos are meant to stand alone with very little words or context. But for me, the story behind a photo is just as important as the photo itself. Maybe I’m just sentimental. Maybe I just like to get to know the photographers I follow and admire.
I love this photo. Not only a magical moment between my friend and her dad. But also a magical trip. You see, my ex had just broken up with me. To visit places that had such a strong association with them was always going to hurt. But strangely it also healed me. It glued a tiny piece of me back together. It was exactly what I needed. At exactly the right time. Forever grateful to the cheese and wine loving, bike riding kid.
On a totally different note…for the longest time I thought I had lost the set of photos for this trip. I frantically searched all my hard drives and thumb drives for days. I finally found them in iPhoto. Yes, iPhoto. I never use iPhoto. I hate iPhoto. Rant over.
Pity about the plastic bag though (bet you didn’t really notice that till now).

When the view is this amazing, all I needed was an iPhone 5 to capture the beauty.
“The decision to be positive is not one that disregards or belittles the sadness that exists. It is rather a conscious choice to focus on the good, and to cultivate happiness, genuine happiness.
Happiness is not a limited resource.
And when we devote our energy and time to trivial matters and choose to stress over things that ultimately are insignificant, from that point we perpetuate our own sadness, and we lose sight of the things that really make us happy and rationalize our way out of doing amazing things.
Dying doesn’t need to be a bad thing. It is in fact a necessary thing.
I want to be remembered as someone who…did their best.”

I’m usually good with words. But sometimes they escape me. This week has been pretty rough. They need to find a cure for all types of cancer.
Why are the sunsets in Cambodia so beautiful?

With one click, a moment in time is immortalised. And that’s what photography is about.
This photo brings back amazing memories and an amazingly funny story.

But it had potential. The potential to be amazing. The potential to be beautiful.
Just like life. Just like you.

mozzie-slayer asked: Hello! I love your blog. I think you did a very courageous thing quitting your job. It's like it's time to start living rather than just going through the motion. I hope that i will be able to live like that too. Do you live in Perth or Singapore?

Thank you mozzie-slayer :)

I guess everyone reaches a point in their life where they reevaluate their priorities. Happiness seems to slip down the priority list behind work and money. Me quitting my job was me reevaluating my life and redefining the bigger picture.

I was born and raised in Perth. After I graduated from University, I moved to Singapore for 5 years to work. I’m now back in Perth and loving it.

But you know…the view was pretty amazing.

vanleigh asked: I love your blog !! It's so not the typical tumblr blog with a bunch of reblogging; all these amazing photos are yours. I appreciate that : )

I started this blog after I resigned from an absolutely soul destroying job. Your incredibly kind words are deeply humbling :)
